У меня та же конфигурация. И перешёл я на неё с dial-up очень
легко, поскольку соединение со Стрим - это ppp поверх Ethernet,
то бишь pppoe. Таким образом, в настройках firewall'а, сделанных
когда-то строго по тексту

ровным счётом ничего не менялось. Уточню, что машина с конкретным
адресом 192.168.2.16 (так сложилось) является для всех остальных
в локальной сети DNS, ftp, news, proxy-сервером, gw и так далее.
Т.е. в Интернет машины ходят через прокси-сервер с адресом
192.168.2.16 (это я подчёркиваю, в отличие от Вашего текста).
В настройках pppoe.conf, видимо, нужно обратить внимание только
на эти строки:
ETH='eth1'
FIREWALL=MASQUERADE
LINUX_PLUGIN=/usr/lib/pppd/2.4.2/rp-pppoe.so
Последняя строка уточняет, где именно находится на моей машине
плагин rp-pppoe.so.
Остаётся набрать # /usr/sbin/adsl-start, и вперёд.
Добавлю, что аналоговый модем подключён у меня к другому каналу
расщепителя, и я им при нужде легко пользуюсь для соединения с
online.ru, не делая никаких изменений в настройках.
