не забудьте дать
xhost -
после того, как всё закончится.

Кстати, по поводу X-сервера под Windows,
можете воспользоваться коммерческим
WinaXe (http://www.winaxe.com/x-server.html)
или свободным Cygwin/X (http://x.cygwin.com).
Хотя, конечно, легче всего было бы найти машину с установленной уже
X Window System в той же сети.
