От чего proftpd записан в двух местах,
какой из них включать и в чем разница?
# chkconfig --list
...
proftpd 0:off 1:off 2:off 3:on 4:on 5:on 6:off
xinetd based services:
...
proftpd: off

один из них - standalone (сам слушает и отвечает), другой - xinetd-based
(вызывается через xinetd). какой включать - решать вам, прочитав
документацию ;)
