зависит от sata контроллера

не обязательно. размер массива = размер меньшего.

только один хинт: вместо raidtools (и написания raidtab) лучше использовать
mdadm.
и второй хинт: можно сразу настроить на зерокале lvm и вынести /usr /var /home
и проч.
а вот root в такой lvm у меня не получилось.
