Вот трабла такая есть:
запускаю сквида в chroot,
имею в top:
PID USER PRI NI SIZE RSS SHARE STAT %CPU %MEM TIME CPU COMMAND
22754 squid 16 0 3900 3900 1272 S 99,2 1,5 0:22 0 squid
^^^^^^^^это очень мне не нравится.
когда запускаю без chroot -- все ок, жрет 0.6% CPU...
Может, ктонибудь сталкивался, подскажет, где собака порылась...

Попробуйте его от'strace'ить -- куда стучится-то.
Возможно, дело в резолвере.
