Некоторые параметры действительно могут плавать, но пока значение
достаточно далеко от порога (колонка THRESH в выводе smartctl -A),
страшного ничего нет.

Это уже хуже. В нормальной ситуации для этого параметра в RAW_VALUE
должно быть 0. Если происходят ошибки CRC, это может быть вызвано
плохим кабелем (плохой контакт); также подобные ошибки могут возникать
в результате разгона (когда частота PCI и, как следствие, временные
параметры IDE не соответствуют норме).
Cмотрите вывод smartctl -a (там, помимо значений атрибутов, выводится
ещё и Error Log, где можно посмотреть детально сведения об
обнаруженных ошибках).
