Это не просто "устанавливать последние версии", а переезд на
unstable.
Перед этим настоятельно рекомендуется подписаться на sisyphus@ и
почитать некоторое время; в процессе подготовки к переезду стоит
поискать (search.altlinux.ru), какие конкретно проблемы с
процессом наблюдались.
По памяти -- потребуется
apt-get install libgcc3.2 libstdc++3.2 libapt librpm apt rpm
(как минимум -- а, помнится, еще libpam0 и еще что-то)
перед apt-get dist-upgrade.
В общем, осторожно -- и лучше спросите лишний раз в sisyphus@
перед тем, как говорить апту Страшную Фразу (tm).
