AFAIR есть OSS/Free, которая в ядре, а есть платная. На заре своей
линуксовой жизни я поднимал свою ALS4000 через нее, т.к. ядерная ее не
умеет. А потом открыл для себя ALSA. Сейчас гляну, у меня где-то валялась
OSS с кряком...

OSS installation package comes with a special evaluation license that
permits trying OSS before buying it. This evaluation license will be
installed automatically and it enables _ALL_ features and low level
drivers currently supported by OSS. The only limitation is that OSS will
work only 3 hours after executing soundon (soundoff;soundon will enable it
again). After week of use the activity time will drop to 20 minutes at
time. All features and low level drivers of OSS are included in the
evaluation version.

A permanent license will be required if you want to use OSS without the
