День добрый, пособите пожалуйста настроить железку:
Есть новый комп с материнкой от ASRock, на чипе VIA KM266. Поставил туда
одну из бет Сompact. При загрузке получаю что-то типа (с точностью до
device id):
Linux agpgart interface v0.99 (c) Jeff Hartmann
agpgart: Maximum main memory to use for agp memory: 203M
agpgart: Unsupported Via chipset (device id: 3116), you might want to
try agp_try_unsupported=1.
agpgart: no supported devices found.
После чего, конечно, ни agp, ни ускорения. Немного погуглив, нашел
патчик: http://www.cs.helsinki.fi/linux/linux-kernel/2003-20/0373.html
Как решить эту проблему, и есть ли в к-л ядрах от alt нужный патч или
др. поддержка для этого чипа ?

Видимо, бета очень старая - какое там ядро (uname -a)? Сейчас в
ядрах в Сизифе этот идентификатор есть.
Если нет возможности обновить ядро (надо бы, хотя бы по поводу
security), можно добавить в /etc/modules.conf:
options agpgart agp_try_unsupported=1
