Вот с такой бедой я сталкивался много раз.
И было это с винтами прицепленными на HPT-370 RAID-контроллер.
Причем не в режиме RAID, а просто как одиночное устройство.
Иногда при этом помогала замена винта на другой (в смысле
производителя) иногда нифига не помогало.
В конечном итоге обнаружилось следующее. У меня среди нескольких
шлейфов, есть один старого типа. У него в середине разъема,
есть отверстие под контакт, который не используется.
В современных шлейфах это отверстие просто заглушено.
Так вот выяснилось, что именно со шлейфом старого типа любой
винт нормально работает на моем HPT-370. С новыми шлейфами
некоторые винты работают именно так как описано - зависание при
Partition check.
Какова причина этого - для меня тайна и по сей день. :-(
