А чем собственно не устроил альтовский пакет с драйверами?
типа kernel-fglrx... для 2.4.20. А лучше наверно вообще из сизифа ядро взять

Ну не знаю, у меня прекрасно работает айтевая карта. и с 2д и с 3д. Сам ничо не
компилял.
