Попробуйте radeon_gatos (из пакета XFree86-ati-gatos) - в той версии
драйвера radeon действительно была такая проблема. Правда, с radeon_gatos
не работает DRI (аппаратная поддержка 3D) из-за несоответствия версий
драйвера и модуля ядра.
