Для ядра 2.6 это рекомендуемый метод (ide-scsi вроде бы недавно
чинили - патч пролетал, но я не проверял, приняли ли его). А вот в
2.4.x так лучше не делать. Проблема в том, что интерфейс для работы
через ATAPI в ядрах 2.4.x не поддерживает DMA; единственный способ
использовать DMA для записи CD в 2.4.x - через ide-scsi, и только при
размере сектора 2048 (т.е. для дисков с данными, но не для аудио). В
2.6 DMA поддерживается, причём лучше (работает и при записи аудио, и в
режиме RAW).
