У меня не работает ввод руcских символов в mc. Куда копать?

В MC. В терменале все нормально. Запускаю mc, переключаюсь на русский, нажимаю
например "а" ("f"-eng), а оно мне пишет строку до каталога, который отображен
на другой панели.
$ locale
