Плохо. Ты не тот бинарник нашел.

А это бинарный пакет из Мандраки. Бинарные пакеты из другого дистрибутива
вставать ну _совсем_ не обязаны.

Не там ищем. glibc обновлять не надо. Надо взять _исходники_ Sylpheed-claws
и собрать с имеющимся glibc. Просто то, что есть у тебя, собрано скорее
всего для RH9. А бинарники линуксового софта из источников типа "откуда-то
из Инета" пробовать ставить надо в последнюю очередь. Т.к. скорее всего не
встанут.
