glibc -- слишком ключевая библиотека, чтобы ради почтовки плясать

Это защита, при отсутствии которой Вы бы уже убили систему.

В данном случае проще найти нормальную сборку s-c или собрать из
их src.rpm локально.
PS: при желании можете установить где-нибудь "тестовый" линукс и
проверить, к чему приведет установка на glibc2.2-based систему
"чужой" сборки 2.3. Это rpm -Uvh --force glibc-2.3*.rpm.
Хорошо запоминается...
