Загрузка процессора, конечно, возрастёт. Потестируйте с опцией
-dummy - посмотрите, как себя поведёт.

С ядрами 2.4.x никакого смысла в этом нет.

blank=fast очищает только список дорожек, blank=all - всю
поверхность диска. Как правило, blank=fast достаточно; blank=all
иногда помогает при борьбе со старыми плохими дисками.
