Это сообщение выдаёт LILO. Его обновляли? В BIOS что-то меняли?
Загружается ли система при выборе другого варианта ядра?

Если не удастся загрузить систему ни с одним из доступных в меню
ядер - придётся искать, и дальше разбираться - либо откатываться на
старую версию LILO (но крайне желательно разобраться, почему новая
не работает), либо ставить GRUB (только новый 0.93 из Сизифа - 0.92
тоже страдал непониманием больших EBDA, в 0.93 это якобы исправили).
