Что показывают cat /proc/bus/usb/devices и cat /proc/scsi/scsi при
подключенном устройстве?
Какие сообщения выдаёт ядро при подключении (dmesg)?
Наконец, какой дистрибутив установлен, какая версия ядра (uname -a)?
