Сейчас вам все будут говорить, что собирать рутом нельзя. :-)
В этих дровах кривой Makefile. И ковыряться надо в нем, а не
в системных директориях. Где гарантия того, что этот Makefile
не "сковыряет" всю систему?
Лучше сделайте патч на Makefile.
