Возникла такая проблема:

А модуль apm там, случайно, не загружается? После того, как я
убрал загрузку этоо модуля, у меня перестала вешаться машина при
выходе из иксов.

Попробуйте сделать syslog на другой хост -- вдруг что-то да
успеет пискнуть.
