Запускаем gVim. Там в меню Window есть пункты split и
split vertically с указанием соответствующих команд.
Если что-то непонятно, лезем в файл menu.vim и смотрим
определения для соответствующих пунктов.
Кстати, если даже gVim как таковой не установлен, то
уж этот файл всё равно наверняка есть.
