Тогда проблема может быть связана, например, с тем, что
Gnome требует новых файлов шрифтовой конфигурации (которые
создаются по fc-cache), а для KDE нужны традиционные fonts.dir и
fonts.scale. Вот и смотрите в шрифтовых каталогах:
есть такие файлы? Прописано ли в них всё, что нужно?
Разрешения на файлы и каталоги тоже нелишне проверить.

Только смешивать не надо. Давайте сначала разберемся с KDE,
а потом будем лечить Мозиллу. Эти две задачи между собой никак
не связаны.
