Ты в этом точно уверен? Дело в том, что когда я только ставил у себя
WINS-сервер в начале, то те машины, которые о нём не знали не видели тех
машин, которые о нём знали, и наоборот, так как первые искали друг-друга
(и информировали друг-друга о своём наличии в сети) broadcast'ами, а
вторые лазили, в том числе за списком машин в сети, на WINS-сервер.
Никакого AD у меня отродясь не было.
Я как-то ставил WINS-сервер в одной домашней сети как раз из-за того, что
сеть была сделана хреново, часто теряла пакеты, поэтому список машин у
каждого пользователя был какой-то свой уникальный :) После установки
WINS-сервера проблема решилась мгновенно -- как только человек включал
машину, он сразу видел в сетевом окружении все машины (когда идёт опрос
бродкастами, то обычно только через несколько минут появляются в списке
все машины, а так как в той сети были потери пакетов, то и реже).
