Ну, например, mktexlsr (это для fpTeX).
В MikTeX есть диалоговая утилита настройки, ей и надо
пользоваться.
Я забыл еще, что для шрифтов type1 требуются некие
дополнительные действия... Это уже зависит от дистрибутива
TeX. Вот поставите MikTeX, тогда и посмотрим. И лучше
приватом.

Дистрибутив очень хороший, но, IMHO, из-за этого многие зацикливаются
на нем и не идут дальше по пути знакомства со свободным ПО.
А fpTeX -- это больше для тех, кто уже знаком с Linux. Практически
это тот же teTeX, только для win32.
