У меня тот же чипсет и те же проблемы. Попробуй mplayer, с ним вроде у
меня получалось добиться нормально воспроизведения, но я уже не помню
что я там настраивал. Сейчас перешел на RedHat - собрал в нем mplayer и
xine и сразу все нормально заработало..
