Приветствую тебя community, подскажите пожалуйста можно ли сделать
обновление ядра не заходя из линукса в интернет, потому-что, именно
обновление ядра как раз и есть одна из возможностей устранения глюка
модема? Пока он в линуксе не работает. Можно ли например скачать
нужный пакет, например из под винды, а уже потом установить? Если да,
то как этот пакет называется и где его взять?

Если точно знаете, какое ядро нужно, то на ftp.altlinux.ru ищете
нужный вам пакет с kernel<трам-пам-пам>.rpm и ставите через rpm
-Uvh <имя пакета>.

только лучше ставить через rpm -ivh, чтобы старое ядро сохранилось "на
всякий пожарный".
