Происходят интересные вещи. Не могу запустить Tuxracer. Драйвера Гатос
доставил. В файле options разрешение изменил. Запустил настольный
теннис,- он мне играть решил в слайд режиме, а после выхода разрешение
экрана слетело. Кто -нибудь занимался тюнингом этой карточки. Может я не
так что сделал. Вобщем, на том же железе на Юноше 2.0 порезвее бегало.

lspci -vv сюда пришлите
Они разные бывают такие карточки. У меня на ATI Technologies Inc 3D
Rage LT Pro AGP-133 после шастанья по http://dri.sourceforge.net/
и google заработал tuxracer. Поставил драйвер от
http://www.retinalburn.net/linux/ и поехал пингвин на пузе.

Сходил я туда посмотрел. Там есть гатос версия Х-ов 4.2.0 На DRI вообще
все "недоступно" Я так понимаю Надо DRI "прикрутить". Только как это
правильно сделать.

Для того чтобы заработал DRI нужно:
- модуль ядра для вашей карточки
(должен быть в /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers/char/drm)
- модуль для XFree (должен быть в /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/dri/)
- настроить X (см /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 на предмет
Load "dri"
Load "glx"
и Driver "ati" (или чего там еще))
- перезапустить X
(модуль ядра должен подгрузится)

а чего-то я там названия карточки и не увидел ;(
узнайте как-нибудь точное название карточки (желательно чтобы это
сказали всякие там lspci* им больше веры чем наклейкам на железках)

Непонял. А зачем вам gatos? У вас разве AIW? Если нет, то и не ставьте эти
драйвера, а используйте или с dri.sf.net или из поставки xf4.3.0

сообщение о char-major-226 не пропало. Хотя всё лежит в каталогах,

Попробуйте руками запихать драйвер из консоли без Х
#modprobe mach64
и смотрите что он будет говорить и в консоль и в логах.
если на char-major-226 ругается значит модуль не загрузился или
не понял карту.

Короче, сборка drm ALM sucks. Т.к. есть такое мнение, что эту сборку даже

а то губите идеи dri на корню, давая повод поглумится всяким nvidia'ам.

Ядро в ALM 2.2, к вашему сведению, собрано именно gcc 2.96.

Это баг в сборке lspci - он не там ищет /usr/share/pci.ids (lspci
--help показывает, что он хочет его в /usr/local).
Нужно lspci -vv -i /usr/share/pci.ids.
А ещё лучше lspci -vvx - этот вывод lspci может разобрать с новым
pci.ids и т.п.

Да, это я погорячился, после fglrx =) Приношу свои извинения. Тут скорее с
правами на /dev/dri проблемы. Надо XF86Config-4 поглядеть что насчет Mode
"666" там есть.
