День добрый !
Вы были правы, проблема была именно в PAM в файле SU...странно....
теперь проблема такого рода.
[root@lexus root]# service postgresql
Usage: postgresql
{start|stop|adjust|reload|restart|condstop|condrestart|status}
[root@lexus root]# service postgresql start
Adjusting environment for postgresql:
[ OK ]
Creating default database: initdb does not find the file
'/usr/share/pgsql/postgres.bki'.
This means you have a corrupted installation or identified the
wrong directory with the -L invocation
option.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ теперь ругается(
[FAILED]
messages
Apr 4 09:09:32 lexus postgresql: Adjusting environment for postgresql:
succeeded
Apr 4 09:09:32 lexus pam_tcb[5547]: su: Session opened for postgres by
root(uid=0)

Как-то странно у вас установился postgres :)
# rpm -qf /usr/share/pgsql/postgres.bki
postgresql-server-7.3.1-alt6

Попробуйте переустановить Постгрес, что-то там и впрямь всё плохо и
странно
apt-get install postgresql-server --reinstall
А с файловой системой, вообще, всё в порядке?
