Действительно tiff какой-то странный получается.
gimp ругается, но открывает, display говорит SegFault,
но gqview, kuickshow показывают без проблем.
Я бы вам рекомендовал сохранять в png, а потом использовать
mogrify -format tiff *.png
(из пакета ImageMagick)
