Hi!
Так действительно обстоит дело в дистрибутивах ALTLinux?
Всю жизнь думал, что определение частот монитора происходит по протоколу
DDC самим X-сервером.

ALTLinux,RedHat,SuSE и другие - все они,насколько я осведомлен, при
детектирование опираются на базу описания частотных характеристик мониторов,
причем в большинстве случае каждый использует свой формат хранения. В Blin`e
пока такой механизм определения не реализован. Если говорить о возможной
прикрутке такого механизма, возникает вопрос чью базу выбрать за основу ?
пока, единственный способ указать(изменить) режим экрана, это загрузиться в
текстовый режим, и внести соответствующие изменений в конфигурационном файле
/etc/XF86Config. запус X-сервера осуществляется командой "startx"
