network - из названия непонятно ?
xinetd - просмотр /etc/xinetd.d/ и man xinted должен помочь в понимании.
В некороторых переводах звучит как супрсервер, т.е. сервер
управляющий запуском дргих сервисов e.g. ftp, telnet.....
ftn- точно не скажу но кажется что-то связанное с fido
