Хм, мдяя.
Не знаю про 2.4.х в Дебиане, но в других Линуксах (например КСИ)
с ядром 2.4.х работаю с июля 2000 года и нестабильным не считаю.
ИМХО "нестабильность" 2.4.x связана с новым железом (дровами к нему)
USB, NewVideo etc.
Работаю только на 2.4.х хоть и сталкиваюсь постоянно с глюками
видеодров и устройств на USB, но считаю это отдельными недоработками.
