Господа, никто не сталкивался с subj'ем? Интересует качество фотографий
и совместимость с Linux (нормально ли монтируется).

сталкивался. качество, IMHO, приличное.
монтирутся обычно, как usb-flash. Надо только предварительно в настройках
камеры переключить режим ее работы с digital-camera в usb-drive (точно не
помню, но что-то в этом роде). У меня модель попроще - Photosmart 620
Отлично работает, я ее монтирование в automount прописал, теперь достаточно
воткнуть шнурок - и все твои фотки в папке /mnt/usb/auto/чего-то-там620
