Именно такой же - сижу на gprs, локально поднят postfix и named в
кэширующем режиме. Сервер удалённый - uw-imap (пока), почта
сортируется procmail. Клиент Mozilla-Mail (как самая экономичная
для imap по трафику) через ssl. Прекрасно работает (когда gprs
не глючит :))
Какие конкретно проблемы с postfix ? Он нужен в локальном
варианте, поскольку на gprs smtp часто закрыт (в Питере,
например) и поскольку так быстрее.
Кстати, кто у Вас оператором?
