Кто, что слышал о сабже??? Один человек в фидо-конфе spb.linux утверждает, что
сабж создан дабы заменить линукс... Какие есть мнения? AFAIK сабж стоит на
ядре Mach, которому далеко до ядра линуха, но всё же...

Сабж - микроядерка и основная ветка x86 only АФАИК сабжу далеко
до топика, как раком до китая :-)

Сабж создан
1) Как ядро для GNU OS
2) Как самое идеологически правильное по тем временям ядро ОС.
3) Как ни разу не Unix-like ядро, но при этом способное достаточно
эффективно ЭМУЛИРОВАТЬ unix

Mach - не в кассу. Теоретически Hird of Unix Replacement Daemons должен
работать на любом message-passing микроядре. Практически - пока только на
GNU Mach (даже с коммерческими добренькими Mach-ами вроде DEC-овского не
работает), и сейчас Mach посылают к "Идущим вместе", всё портируют на L4.
