Последнее ядро 2.4.*-up грузится нормально, дело именно в smp?
Сервер на Intel STL2, dual pIII, SCSI RAID AcceleRAID 170 -
ставил Master beta, встал, RAID завелся (модуль DAC960), сейчас
обновил до 2.4.18-alt1-smp - тоже работает, единственная проблема
с обращением к floppy.
В общем, поддерживает ядро (у меня сейчас все из Sisyphus от ALT)
SCSI RAID, дело может быть в конкретном контроллере/драйвере.
Опишите подробнее Ваш SCSI-контроллер, точную ругань при
загрузке, на каком месте перестает грузиться и т.п.
