Не понял. 0x0c - это FAT32 LBA, а речь шла именно о самом
extended-разделе. Я неоднократно наблюдал, что при типе этого
раздела 0x05 Win98 не работала с разделами, или работала
ненормально. При таком же расположении разделов, но при
установке для расширенного раздела типа 0x0f (Win95 Ext'd (LBA)
по fdisk) все было нормально.
Посмотрите на то, что выдает именно fdisk под Linux по команде
'p' - cfdisk и другие утилиты могут не показывать тип самого
расширенного раздела.
Что касается типов 0x0b и 0x0c, то между ними, похоже, такой
существенной разницы нет - fdisk от Win98 ставил 0x0b, но и с
ним, и с 0x0c все прекрасно работало. Проблемы, похоже, только с
расширенным разделом. К сожалению, все известные мне версии
*fdisk под Linux ставят тип 0x05 (и хуже того, я наблюдал
молчаливую смену типа с 0x0f на 0x05).
