а куда смотрит /dev/cdrom?
а это случаем не пишущий сидюк ide?
очень на мой похож.
если пишущий то /dev/cdrom -> /dev/scd0
и убрать _все_ упоминания об скази из modules.conf и modules
оставить только hdb=ide-scsi в параметрах ядра.
append=" quiet hdb=ide-scsi video=radeonfb fbprogress=/dev/tty10"
все.
