Эта проблема давно известна, обсуждалась в рассылке Сизифа.
Сейчас уже не вспомню деталей, можете сами поискать; надо убрать
ссылки на эти функции из означенного файла

Зачем с ним бороться? Хороший демон :) Говорите, например,
at now+10 hours
и потом команду какую-нибудь, и он вам ее выполнитт ровно через
10 часов :) Подробнее - есть маны. А вот почему он failed... Что
в логах?
