Воспользуйтесь пакетом apt-get. Он сам все знает. :-)))
Еще к нему фэйс имеется, на имя Synaptic откликается.

К Junior?
Боюсь, варианты апгрейда ppp на Junior на сей день таковы:
- тотальный dist-upgrade (на диалапе с учетом прошедшего времени
и изменений будет тяжко);
- найти здесь человека, который собрал для Junior из src.rpm;
- найти поблизости срез сизифа времен Junior.
С последним могу помочь, если совсем все плохо и ближе не
найдется:
