1) лучше по разным каналам (e.g. hda -> hdc)
2) при упомянутом рецепте подразумеваются диски идентичного
размера

А /dev/hda -- что, не файл? ;) Разница только в поддержке на
уровне fs, но уж если с ней проблемы -- тады ой. А так -- пока
сидел на где-то покореженном 2.4.9, приходилось 2.4.5 бутить для
помогания другу -- а то /dev/hdc слишком длинный выходил.
