Заработало и на alsa24-up. depmod -a помог.
Я сразу поставил ядро, потом когда увидел, что саунд не грузится - обновил
alsa. Про depmod не знал вообще, посему и не сделал ;-) Купился на то, что
когда kernel-2.4.13 ставил все получилось автоматом без каких либо
дополнительных телодвижений.
А, вспомнил, еще ручками после установки нового ядра (2.4.15) пришлось
ссылочку /boot/@System.map на /boot/System.map-2.4.15-... подправить. Она
на 2.4.13 указывала. Это не критично или чегой то при установке ядра не
свершилось?
Хотя в принципе, вопрос снят, все заработало и ладно.
