При установке Open Office, любого билда, выдает чистое окно с надписью только
во главе окна.
Подскажите как разобраться с этой проблемой.

очень просто. удалить лишние шрифты из конфига xfs.
просто методом подбора исключая целые директории. точно с абивордовскими шрифтами конфликтует и дальше еще с кем то.
chkfontpath вам поможет
или /etc/X11/xfs/config ручками
