Копирование через dd годится только при точно совпадающих
размерах разделов.
Можно скопировать через parted, у меня прошло без проблем, даже
Win2K грузиться не перестала. А вот Win98, грузившаяся из
загрузчика Win2K, сдохла - потребовались пляски с бутсектором
(загрузка с дискеты Win98, C:, sys D:, D:, sys C:, потом в Linux
dd if=/dev/hda2 of=/c/bootsect.dos bs=512 count=1, потом
утилитой bootpart восстановить бутсектор от Win2K).
