у тошибы ОЧЕНЬ хреновая поддержка open source (наоборот - хорошая).
toshutils (fan, tuxtime etc) написаны одним энтузиастом, который угробил
на раздобывание спецификаций кучу времени.
самый простой пример - irda. Те, кому повезло, могут заюзать SIR. Кому не
повезло - модели tecra и прочие на SMCC чипе - грызут локти и ставят win.
почитайте отзывы о тошибе в проектах irda, pcmcia и прочие около - народ
на нее портирует то, что уже написано для другого.
хотя как компы тошибы - для меня практически все конкуренции - сам юзаю
