А как в новой редакции сабжа с компиляцией glibc и другий
системных библиотек?
Компилить можно или по прежнему не рекомендуется?

Существует патч, который сейчас проходит тестирование на разных
архитектурах. Подробности в libc-alpha@sources.redhat.com
