Дистрибутив Spring 2001 без обновлений.
$ uname -r; rpm -qa | grep -i postg
2.2.19-alt1-up
postgresql-7.0.3-ipl11mdk
postgresql-server-7.0.3-ipl11mdk
postgresql-perl-7.0.3-ipl11mdk
$ createdb quux
psql: FATAL 1: Database "template1" does not exist in the system catalog.
createdb: database creation failed
Что не так? Что читать или делать?
Буду премного благодарен за ответ. Если приведенной мной информации
недостаточно, чтобы понять, в чем проблема, я готов добавить любые
подробности. Но пока просто не понимаю/не знаю, что еще может быть полезно
для диагностики. Самый первый шаг для меня всегда был самым трудным.

Перед первым запуском PosstgreSQL от имени пользователя postgres запустить
initdb. У тебя первоначальная база не создана.
