Не совсем так. Дело в том, что версия драйвера для aic7xxx не синхронизируется с
текущей версией ядра автоматом, т.к она разрабатывается совершенно независимо.
Если покопаться, то впервые он появился во FreeBSD. Поэтому проще скачать патч
на сайте разработчика http://people.FreeBSD.org/~gibbs/linux/ для любой версии
ядра (там есть для 2.2.19 и для 2.4.12)

Как ни странно, на сайте adaptec тоже нет упоминания про этот чип... Так что
настоятельно советую взглянуть что же написано на самом чипе :)
