Видите ли, при "правке" времени (т.е. установке системных
ходиков) в этот файл вносятся изменения на предмет коррекции их
хода. Если Вы корректировали временную зону 8-) [+/- 2-3-4 часа
от правды], то туда попала туфта и часы начнуть "сами" дико
тормозить/спешить.
"Нулевое" содержимое делается так:
# echo -e "0.0 0 0.0\n0\nUTC" > /etc/adjtime
(это у меня UTC, т.к. в BIOS время по Гринвичу -- см. man date,
наверное, на предмет правильного для Вас значения, если в BIOS
местное)
И см. man date, man hwclock.
